Job Description


To provide accurate and timely financial information, maintain effective internal controls, safeguard company assets, and demonstrate sound accounting processes.

• Provide and analyze accurate and supporting schedules for multiple profit and cost centers and Corporate departments.
• Enter and route items, such as contracts, change orders and invoices, in the construction cost accounting system.
• Review construction contracts to identify key terms and compliance with our construction policies and procedures
• Track and enter lien releases for construction invoices in the construction cost accounting system.
• Responsible for company-wide fixed asset accounting, including:
o Entry of fixed assets additions, transfers and disposals into the fixed asset subledger
o Run monthly depreciation process and assist with preparation of depreciation reasonableness tests
o Reconcile fixed asset system to G/L system on a monthly basis
o Prepare roll-forward of fixed asset activity on a monthly basis
o Assist with annual fixed asset counts and provide instructions to business
• Record, classify and summarize financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
• Journal entry preparation and review.
• Review and approve new fixed assets in Accounts Payable system, ensuring proper treatment of sales & use tax
• Work with tax department to ensure fixed assets have appropriate location codes assigned
• Work with IT department to reconcile the technology asset database to the fixed asset subledger
• Prepare supporting documentation and assist with annual audit process.
• Be dedicated to meeting the expectations of both internal and external “customers”
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form, with department co-workers, resort contacts, other Bluegreen departments, vendors and other agencies
• Special projects and other duties as assigned
• Meet normal weekly and monthly deadlines within scheduled hours

The operations team and senior leadership depend on timely delivery of financial statements to make business decisions. Audit deadlines are crucial due to lender and state requirements. The closing of each accounting period, and the related reporting, is critical in meeting our parent company's deadlines. Senior management requests may be urgent and a priority. Therefore, overtime may be required and is mandatory each month in order to meet critical deadlines.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Specific for the position and/or area + Knowledge of GAAP; outstanding skill level with MS Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer.
• Independent, self-starter, strong analysis capabilities. Strong interpersonal relationship and communication skills to effectively communicate with resorts, vendors, co-workers and other agencies. Must be a team player. Must be detail oriented. Must be able to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines. Experienced at making sound, independent judgments within established policies and procedures
