Job Description

This position entails work in all aspects of human resources, including duties related to policies and procedures, employee benefits, compensation, hiring and firing, equal employment opportunity matters, training and development, performance appraisal\management, employee relations, and dealing with representatives of outside staffing agencies. The HR Generalist is responsible for all human resources activities for multiple resort locations.

Independent judgment and discretion is regularly used by the HR Generalist with regard to matters of significance in a variety of manager, employee and administrative decision-making situations.

The HR Generalist is responsible for ensuring that all managers and supervisors receive appropriate advice, information, counseling and coaching necessary to carry out the operational goals and objectives for the properties assigned to this position.

The HR Generalist contacts are with supervisors, managers, department directors and resort leadership to discuss concerns, prevent and handle crises, provide administrative HR support, enhance communications and problem solving, ensure that appropriate and legal proactive and corrective actions are taken. Additional contacts with employees, either directly or through a supervisor are required on a regular basis.

The work may include the use of and interpretation of the associate handbook policies, company guidelines or other established procedures containing or relating to complex employment matters that can be understood or interpreted only with advanced or specialized knowledge or skills in human resources. The individual in this position may also refer to and apply applicable federal, state laws and regulations. The HR Generalist also communicates directly with applicants and take the lead role in talent acquisition.

The HR Generalist regularly provides advice, assistance and follow-up on Company policies, procedures, and documentation. The HR Generalist will also coordinate the resolution of specific policy-related and procedural problems and inquiries.

• Responsible for all human resources activities to include employment, associate relations, training and development. Will also assist with various matters pertaining to compensation and benefits.
• Reviews applications/resumes; screens and choses qualified applicants for interviews and interviews job applicants; evaluates applicant skills and qualifications; makes hiring recommendations to management.
• Makes recommendations regarding employee transfers, promotions, discipline and terminations.
• Trains, coaches, and counsels management in decision making before executing promotion, discipline, and terminations.
• Responsible administering orientation of new hires to ensure Company mission, values and goals are properly presented.
• Is regularly consulted by management regarding appropriate employment decisions and must thoroughly understand and weigh relevant issues involved in those decisions and recommends a proper course of action.
• Recommends and schedules training and development courses as needed in partnership with Resort Manager and Assistant Resort Manager.
• Schedules and participates in monthly associate roundtables; analyzes results of roundtable with recommendations to senior management.
• Counsels associates with complaints, including EEO complaints.
• Conducts exit interviews and analyzes data for making recommendations to management on corrective action and continuous improvement.
• Works in conjunction with Regional and Corporate HR partners as requested, in investigations relating to discrimination charges, EEO complaints and other legal matters.
• Conducts training sessions for managers and employees concerning workplace policies and procedures, employee benefits, and various other employment issues.
• Attends meetings with senior managers to make recommendations relating to employment matters.
• Develops and maintains relationship with employment agencies, universities and other recruitment sources.
• Advises outside staffing agencies on issues related to employees of agencies assigned to the Company.
• Attends job fairs/partner with local Company divisions on Corporate recruiting events.
• Conducts local marketing campaigns for current openings in concert with talent acquisition.
• Completes salary survey questionnaires.
• Audits payroll before it is sent for final processing.
• Conducts associate opinion polls to ensure employee satisfaction and training efforts are working effectively.
• Plans and executes in partnership with department leaders; associate engagement meetings, associate recognition, and appreciation events.
• Develops and maintains associate content/communication and labor posters on information boards and displays.
• Partners with associates and management to communicate and provide guidance on various Company policies, procedures, laws, standards, and other government compliance regulations.

Job Requirements

1 – Minimum Formal Education:
High School Diploma. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or related field preferred.

2 – Minimum Experience:
Human Resources Assistant or Coordinator experience of at least 3 to 5 years, preferably in the timeshare industry, or any similar combination of education and experience.

3 – Essential Training, Knowledge, Licenses and /or Certifications:
Customer service and quality fundamentals, MS Office Suite, knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines and of federal/state employment law and other government compliance regulations. SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR certification or ability to obtain certification within 12 months.

4 – Essential Professional Skills/Competencies:
Must be able to work under stress. Professionally project a positive Company image to the public. Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills, strong ability to think strategically and analyze information timely and accurately, strong interpersonal communication skills to deal effectively with all levels of the organization.
