Job Description

Purpose:

To provide accurate and timely financial information and analyses, maintain effective internal controls, safeguard company assets, and demonstrate sound accounting processes.

The operations team and senior leadership depend on timely delivery of financial statements to make business decisions. Audit deadlines are crucial due to lender and state requirements. The closing of each accounting period, and the related reporting, is critical in meeting our parent company’s deadlines. Senior management request may be urgent and a priory. Therefore, overtime may be required an is mandatory each month or in order to meet critical deadlines.

Responsibilities:

• Provide and analyze accurate and supporting schedules for multiple accounting regions within the sales and marketing segment and certain administrative regions.

• Analyze and document budget variances related to profit and loss statements. Identify trends and opportunities.

• Review all field and accounting related transactions including sales and inventory, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash, leases, and accruals.

• Prepare monthly reconciliations, financials, and close packages.

• Record, classify and summarize financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

• Journal entry preparation and review.

• Meet month-end, quarter-end, and annual accounting close deadlines within established accounting close calendar.

• Primary contact on daily basis with field managers and support personnel throughout the Sales & Marketing Division, also acting as liaison between corporate and field.

• Prepare and analyze annual property taxes

• Prepare and analyze bank reconciliations.

• Verify accounts payable postings and accounts receivable.

• Prepare supporting documentation and assist with annual audit process.

• Participate in cross-training sessions to become familiar with various areas within sales and marketing accounting.

• Be dedicated to meeting the expectations of both internal and external “customers”.

• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form, with department co-workers, resort contact, other Bluegreen departments, vendors and other agencies.

• Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

• Specific for the position and/or area + knowledge of GAAP, outstanding skill level with MS Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer.

• Independent, self-starter, strong analysis capabilities. Strong interpersonal relationship and communication skills to effectively communicate with resorts, vendors, co-workers and other agencies. Must be a team player. Must be detail oriented. Must be able to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines. Experience with making sound, independent judgments within established policies and procedures.
