Job Description


The Bluegreen Vacations Corporation Paralegal, Litigation & Employment Assistant, will provide paralegal and administrative support to the Senior Vice President, Litigation & Employment (“SVPLE”), primarily through case coordination, with emphasis on employment litigation and arbitration, federal, state and local employment agency complaints/charges, third-party subpoenas, and internally escalated Human Resources matters, conducting legal research and writing, providing document support, communicating with company attorneys (internal and external), business operators and the Human Resources team, and providing administrative support to the SVPLE.


• Coordinate employment litigation, arbitration, agency charges, escalated employee complaints and other employment related legal matters
• Prepare draft responses to federal, state or local agencies and attorney demand letters
• Prepare legal claim holds, employment practices liability reports, litigation reports, etc. for distribution to company executives and Boards of Directors
• Gather and prepare documents and information for litigation matters
• Interview witnesses and prepare summaries; interact with outside attorneys on litigation matters
• Communicate with federal, state and local agencies, outside attorneys, the company’s Human Resources professionals and field management on legal matters
• Coordinate, distribute and/or respond to incoming subpoenas, litigations and garnishments, attorney requests for information, and other legal requests for information in connection with employees and consumers.
• Coordinate settlement documents, including preparing initial drafts of settlement agreements, requesting settlement checks and performing other duties to conclude matters
• Responsible for review and processing of outside counsel invoices; prepare reports with budget in mind
• Perform basic legal research and writing, as requested
• Remain updated on current state and federal employment laws
• Create, update, and maintain databases and other legal resources for Legal and Human Resources use
• Open, maintain and purge files, maintain filing and update case lists with document retention policy in mind.
• Assist with SVPLE administrative needs such as scheduling meetings and appointments, making travel arrangements, sorting mail, preparing and printing documents, submitting expense reports, maintaining department lists, handling department events, and other administrative duties, as requested
• Perform other paralegal duties and special projects, as requested.
• Maintain strict confidentiality, operate discreetly and use sound discretion and judgment, as this role will involve the handling of confidential and sensitive information

Job Requirements

• Two-year college degree required
• At least 3-5 years of relevant work experience as a litigation paralegal, employment law experience strongly preferred
• Paralegal Certificate strongly preferred
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong drafting skills, including excellent grammar
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to work confidentially and discreetly, using sound discretion and judgment
• Ability to work independently after being provided with direction from supervisor, take ownership of issues, and effectively resolve issues
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively
• Collaborative approach and professional presence
• Solid time management skills
• Dependable and strong work ethic
