Job Description


The Director, Public Relations, is responsible for the creation, development, integration, and implementation of a broad range of public relations’ activities. The Director works with the Head of PR & Communications to develop campaigns and strategies in line with the company’s business goals, to advance exposure and awareness of Bluegreen across desired audiences and platforms. In addition to managing key efforts and a growing internal team, the Director will oversee PR agencies, special events, ground breakings, resort openings, media activations, travel trade and industry relationships, external news stream and press releases, promotions and branding opportunities, and budgets. They will also assist with Bluegreen’s Corporate Social Responsibility footprint and community relations initiatives.

The Director, Public Relations, will also serve as a brand strategist and tactician, tapping into forged and new agency and partner relationships, to drive media and branding opportunities from start-to-finish.

• Leads initiatives by global public relations agencies to support Bluegreen’s priorities and goals.
• Develops, refines and executes against messaging hierarchy for Bluegreen.
• Manages both internal and external events, from inception to execution, for high visibility programs (i.e. new resort/product openings, television shoots, concert events, awards ceremonies and other special events).
• Manages Bluegreen’s news stream, including press releases, CEO memos, key messages, scripts, etc.
• Oversees press related events, including press conferences and announcements, as well as on-site press events and activations (with agencies).
• Creates and oversees destination and regional PR management team for on-resort/in-destination support serving as an extension of the Corporate PR Team.
• Builds and manages the consumer promotions and branding team, and conceptualizes and strategizes opportunities that align with our brand.
• Delivers impactful strategy and results across the U.S. media and influencer landscape (national, regional), tapping into a network of media connections to create story opportunities for Bluegreen.
• Works across integrated teams, helping to manage junior staff and expand their level of expertise and understanding.
• Helps craft compelling stories, messaging, and channels to reach audiences and secure important and diverse media attention.
• Provides holistic integrated media plans and counsel across earned, owned, and paid channels.
• Generates both short and long-term plans and program recommendations, overseeing plan execution.
• Develops a KPI measurement strategy for campaigns and delivers on results.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or related field
6-8 years of Public Relations and Communications experience required
2-3 years Public Relations agency experience
Knowledge of MSOffice Suite
Good written and verbal communications skills; demonstrated ability to effectively multitask, delegate and manage assignments and accurately evaluate others’ work.
Proficient at presenting communications plans and incorporating feedback; familiar with best practice communications tactics and public relations tools and will be able to provide recommendations to the Executive Committee.
Ability to manage and inspire a team to make sound judgments on a daily basis, knowing when to seek senior counsel.
Demonstrated ability to delegate tactical assignments and accurately judge and edit the work of others at or below his/her level.
Work with Head of PR to develop and execute communications plans based on company goals.
