Job Description


The Computer Operator is responsible for monitoring the AS400 systems in a 24/7 work environment. In addition to the monitoring duties, the Computer Operator must also promptly answer Service Desk support calls and dispatch task requests to Service desk technicians. System outages must be escalated promptly to IT upper management and 2nd level support.


• Monitors performance of Resorts running on AS400 remotely and accounting applications running at corporate
• Assists the Sys Admin team in performing nightly maintenance and administration tasks for the Windows server environments.
• Assists in producing various reports as needed
• Answers Service Desk support calls, handles password resets, and dispatches requests to Service Desk or escalate to 2nd level support and IT management as needed.
• Runs special jobs and back-ups on AS400 as needed.
• Ensures tape backup rotations are being managed and stored off site as stated in IT policies
• Provides timely and accurate daily/weekly status report updates and reliable information.
•Submits weekly timesheets for approval before stated IT deadlines’
• Ensures AS400 back-ups are running successfully and address or escalate problems if they arise.
• Ensures procedures, diagrams, and other technical documentation are kept current and updated.
• Capture support requests in Service Desk tickets, properly assign, escalate and close when resolved.
• Ensures software licenses, certifications and subscriptions are properly renewed and do not prematurely expire.
• Strives to minimize system downtime and prevent unplanned or unscheduled outages.
• Follows PCI-DSS, SOX, IT Security guidelines to ensure all systems are kept in compliance
• Ensures all systems currently in use are backed-up and can be restored within SLO/SLA requirements.
• Keep policies, procedures, diagrams and other technical documentation current and accessible.
• Ensures no changes are made to any system without an approved change request work order
• Close all IT work orders in a timely manner or update regularly to explain why they were not closed

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Two to five years experience in a Service Desk environment
• Knowledge of AS400 operating commands, Windows operating system commands, MSOffice Suite. Ability to speak with and assist end-users with technical issues. Some DOS commands.
• Ability to assist callers with simple IT requests and escalate complex requests as necessary
• Willingness to work night shifts including weekdays and weekends with flexible scheduling.
