Job Description


The Release Coordinator is accountable for vision, prioritization, planning and management for the platforms and applications assigned to her/him; this role is also accountable for the compliance and adherence to all IT established polices/procedures and guidelines.

Overall, the Release Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and grooming the backlog for her/his assigned applications while maintaining effective and timely communication with all stakeholders (both IT and business) throughout the execution of the release schedule; the Release Coordinator will also work closely with the different IT stakeholders to ensure that the business needs and priorities are properly captured in each application's backlog and release workplans; as the release cycle continues, the release coordinator will collaborate with the appropriate technical teams to ensure that approved requirements are implemented in according to the release schedule while managing maintaining effective and timely communication with all stakeholders (both IT and business) about the status, budget, resource allocation and risks/issues related to each release.

The release coordinator will also create and maintain all the necessary documentation related to each release according to IT established policies/procedures and guidelines; at the end of the year, she/he will work to prepare a release schedule proposal for the following year.

The Release Coordinator may also be asked to participate in risk/issue assessment and resolution as they arise in production and work with the respective teams to help drive  any issues to closure or prioritize them in the backlog as needed as well as drive the root cause analysis and documentation.


  • Deliverables responsible or but not limited to are; product roadmap, prioritize backlog, user stories/requirements, documentation, release budgeting & forecasting, risk & issue identification and remediation, and status reporting
  • Bridge communication between the business and IT teams
  • Define and maintain the application backlog according to agreed stakeholder priorities
  • Ensure that applicable IT policies/procedures and guidelines are followed within the release process
  • Collaborate with technical teams to assess new work orders coming into the backlog
  • Work with stakeholders to define submitted requests for upcoming release
  • Prepare weekly status reports and documentation related to each active release
  • Conduct task/resource management and allocation throughout the release process in Clarizen
  • Validate submitted timesheets to ensure resource adherence to assigned tasks
  • Schedule and facilitate meetings with all stakeholders to review status of all active releases
  • Work with Product Owners/SMEs and Business Analyst(s) to gather requirements
  • Gather business signoff for approved requirements
  • Work with technical teams through analysis and implementation phases to ensure that any roadblocks are properly addressed
  • Report and evaluate issues and risks (scope, timelines, resources) and escalate to IT management as needed
  • Participate in any UAT related meetings as requested by the QA team
  • Facilitate deployment planning meetings
  • Collect all necessary documentation and create necessary request for change for environment deployments
  • Participate in the release Production deployments (which mostly occur overnight)
  • Where warranted, hold a 'lessons learned' session at the end of each release, capture any improvement areas and create/execute an improvement plan if needed
  • Validate adherence to applicable governance and compliance regulations and policies
  • Provide feedback on team resources and the release process itself


  • 4-year Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or a related field
  • 2 to 4 years of experience as a Release Coordinator or Project Manager in  in a software company or internal IT
  • 2 to 4 years of project management principles experience

  • Project and Task Management, Scheduling, Tracking, & Reporting
  • Risk & Issue Planning (Identification, Mitigation, Resolution)

  • Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Excellent Written & Oral Communication Skills
  • Strong Diagnostic & Analytical Capabilities
  • Microsoft Office Suite, JIRA, ServiceNow and Clarizen (or other project/workforce management experience)
  • Experience managing Enterprise projects desired but not required
  • Travel & Hospitality Experience desired but not required    
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management
  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to identify issues quickly and facilitate discussion for resolution
