Purpose:

In this newly created department and role, the Strategic Sourcing Manager will support the Sr. Director of Procurement in developing the strategic sourcing category management discipline and growing the spend under management category portfolio across the enterprise organization.

They will act both autonomously and in partnership with management to define short-term and long-term strategic targets while developing execution plans to deliver defined savings, program management improvements aligned with the corporate business plan. Additionally, the role will support the development of shared services programs, the creation of compliance and governance policies and future onboarding of Procurement automation systems (P2P, Sourcing, Contract Management platforms).

The Procurement Category Manager will foster a collaborative spirit to build relationships while acting as a positive change agent to educate and build a best in class Procurement, strategic sourcing practice that ensures maximum financial value and risk management protection.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, manage, and execute enterprise category sourcing strategies across a broad spectrum of indirect categories (IT, HR, Sales & Marketing, Professional Services, MRO, Facilities, Legal, Supplies…).
  • Design, implement and execute in-depth sourcing initiatives from project kick-off to contract execution using 7 step sourcing process.
  • Support and conduct strategic negotiations for various categories (from small dollar to multi-million-dollar projects).
  • Responsible for building and managing collaborative internal stakeholder relationships across the organization including Corporate, Sales & Marketing as well as Resort Field Operations by developing sourcing strategies to support their business.
  • Lead stakeholders, cross-functional teams to get process buy-in and create strategic sourcing partnerships to increase addressable spend.
  • Create category playbooks, roadmaps to define optimization strategies to reduce spend, manage risk, and improve supplier performance.
  • Manage supplier performance, conduct QBRs and annual business reviews, act as the internal point of contact for issue resolution as required.
  • Perform on-going spend analysis to transform data into clear and relevant information, track spend & savings performance, identify supplier rationalization and risk mitigation opportunities.
  • Serve as a Procurement ‘Ambassador’ and “Educator’ to the company, stakeholder community on procurement best practices, category, and supplier market intelligence to foster best in practice operation and strategic thought leadership.
  • Stay abreast of industry, market trends relevant to procurement, assigned categories.
  • Become a trusted partner and resource for internal and external partners.
  • Assist in mentoring peer roles as the department expands.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably Business or Supply Chain Management)
  • 6-10 years minimum experience in leading complex strategic sourcing projects preferably across diverse, indirect categories for large to mid-size companies. Additional background in supply chain management, field operations is also preferable.
  • Prior Project Management, Consulting experience desirable.
  • Microsoft Applications (Advanced Excel, comfortable creating PowerPoint presentations, Proficiency in Word & Project Management software)
  • Experience with using, implementing ERP procurement sourcing platforms (i.e., Coupa, SAP/Ariba…)
  • Proficiency in Spend Analytics software (i.e. SpendHQ, Spend 360…)
  • CPSM or CPM desirable
  • Experience in navigating and creating SharePoint content
  • Self-starter, Proactive spirit, able to “Hit the Ground Running”.
  • Effective at influencing and driving consensus decision-making.
  • High level of adaptability to manage the changing needs of the business as they arise.
  • Strong analytical skills including problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Comfortable with analyzing large data sets, data mining.
  • Overall desire to embrace and improve processes, technology.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities as well as flexibility to adapt to change with new systems and methods.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
